Teachers Gifts Cutting Boards

At the end of my high school career, I wanted to express my gratitude to the couple of teachers who I felt taught me extremely well. Their dedication to going above and beyond while teaching had a clear positive impact on every class they taught, and I wanted to represent this effort in the most unique cutting boards I’ve ever made.

Cutting Board Materials

The cutting boards were made out of some unique wood as mentioned. The main span of the boards is African mahogany. Mahogany is a very unique wood for woodworking as the finish applied to it drastically changes the color of the wood. The bare wood is a dark brown similar to black walnut. However, as the finish is applied the wood brightens into a red-brown combination with a very dominant grain.

The accent stripe of the board is a purple heart strip with two black walnut stripes adjoining either side. The purple heart is another African wood that oxidizes like cherry wood does but forms a vibrant purple that eventually darkens to near black over the years.

Custom Cutting Boards

These mahogany cutting boards are truly one of a kind. We don’t have access to much quantity of these exotic woods, plus a large portion of African wood is harvested unsustainably. However, we love to try to tailor to any request. We can create any combination of maple, cherry, and black walnut, plus we may be able to source some other wood like hickory and beech on request. Once a cutting board is ordered, we will work with you to create the perfect design for it, and then laser engrave the design into the board.
